Casey Schumacher
I graduated from Full Sail University with a Bachelor of Science in Digital Arts & Design. After working in-house at City College for a few years, I went on to become a designer at helium creative, where I got my first tastes of branding and designing user experiences for the web.
As my career continued, I progressed from UX and UI for the web, to the mobile web, to native mobile applications. I’ve had the privilege of working at agencies like Battle Medialab, Tambourine, and T R I M. All the while, I’ve balanced my full-time product design roles with freelance branding work on the side. I find making logos and visual identities to be a fun creative release in my free time. Fortunately, I’ve also been able to monetize that.
My process, regardless of what I’m designing, always begins with the end user. Who are we trying to communicate with? What are their wants and needs? When should the message be delivered? Where does it live? Why are we attempting to convey it in the first place? These questions can and should be asked whether we’re designing a business card or an entire two-sided marketplace.
In addition to my design skillsets, I also have middle management experience. I’ve successfully managed teams as large as twelve members, despite some of them being remote in other countries and working through language barriers. In the past I’ve been a stakeholder in a couple small businesses as well. I learned invaluable lessons along the way that one can only be taught when they have skin in the game.
NYC is home these days but I grew up in South Florida. In my free time I enjoy traveling, exercising, and making mediocre beats in FL Studio. Music has always been and will continue to be a big part of my life. From discovering new artists, to going to shows, to feeble attempts at making some myself—it’s trite but I really do love music. I’m a credit card points and miles nerd, I use them regularly to travel for free, just don’t ask me about it because I probably won’t shut up. I’m a proud dog dad to a beautiful goddess named Lily, definitely ask me to show you pics of her, you won’t regret it.
Anyway, I hope all of the above gives you a little insight into who I am professionally and personally. I’m happy to answer any additional questions you might have and if it’s a good fit I’d love to work together. What do you say?
